About Alexandra

Alexandra Zapata, BSc (Hons), MA, is a Registered Psychotherapist who takes a trauma-informed, integrative, and existential approach to therapy. She approaches the therapeutic space with a deep appreciation for the complexity of the human experience and is passionate about helping clients navigate life’s challenges with greater self-understanding, curiosity, and intention. Alexandra believes that some of our greatest struggles can become catalysts for deeper meaning, transformation, and connection with ourselves, others, and the way we live in the world.

Alexandra supports clients navigating trauma, identity exploration, grief, major life transitions, and the deeper existential questions that can emerge during periods of change, uncertainty, or crisis. Her approach is collaborative and exploratory, helping clients develop greater awareness, recognize recurring patterns, and create meaningful shifts in their lives. With more than three years of experience supporting refugee and newcomer populations, Alexandra is committed to culturally responsive care that honours the personal, social, and cultural contexts shaping each client’s experience. She offers psychotherapy in both English and Spanish.

For Alexandra, therapy is not only about reducing symptoms. It can also offer an opportunity to pause and explore meaningful questions such as: What is this experience asking of me? Who am I becoming through it? With advanced training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, Alexandra also provides psychedelic preparation and integration support. She has a particular interest in post-traumatic growth, spiritual emergence, and the therapeutic potential of non-ordinary states of consciousness when approached safely, ethically, and intentionally.
